Unity and Diversity: Davao Central College intramurals Kick Off

With school spirit at an all-time high, Davao Central College launched its annual intramural games last February 17-21, 2025. Almost all students from different departments gathered to compete in the event, promoting teamwork and sportsmanship.

With the theme "Unity and Diversity: A week of Celebrating Talent and Sportsmanship", Davao Central College launched a one-week celebration of Intramurals 2025. Participated with different departments, such as: the Criminal Justice Education, Information Technology Education, College of Business Administration, Hospitality Management Education and the College of Education and Liberal Arts. The intramural games, which run until Friday, feature a range of sports, including basketball, volleyball, table tennis, chess, and scrabble. Students from different departments formed teams to compete against each other, showcasing their skills and teamwork.

In the words of School President, Dr. Ruben L. Dela Cruz, "The intramural games are a celebration of our school's spirit and community. We are proud of our students and their achievements, and we look forward to a fun and exciting week of competition and camaraderie."

The games have been organized by the school's sports coordinator and intramural committee, which has worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all participants. As the intramural games continue, students and teachers were encouraged to come and cheer on their favorite teams. The school's gymnasium is open to spectators throughout the week. The winners of the intramural games were awarded trophies and medals during the gabi ng parangal ceremony held on Friday, February 21, 2025.


Ernie Olin Triumphs in Extemporaneous Speech at Davao Central College Intramurals and LitMus Event 2025

To showcase eloquence and critical thinking, Davao Central College held the Intramurals & Literary-Musical Week 2025 from February 17–21, where CELA representative Ernie Olin emerged victorious in the Extemporaneous Speech competition, outshining participants from CBA, ITE, CJE, and HME.

Olin’s remarkable performance took place during the LitMus event, a highlight of the week-long celebration at the DCC campus. Competing against skilled speakers from different departments, he impressed the judges with his confident delivery, quick-witted responses, and insightful arguments. The competition aimed to test students' ability to think and speak spontaneously on various topics, and Olin’s mastery of the craft led him to claim the championship title. His victory brought pride to CELA and showcased the department’s strength in public speaking.

The event fostered unity and school spirit, as students cheered for their representatives and celebrated each victory. The Intramurals and LitMus event not only provided a platform for talent and excellence but also strengthened camaraderie among departments. More than just a contest, it was a celebration of passion, perseverance, and the pursuit of greatness.

Bringing together students from various departments, Davao Central College’s Intramurals & Literary-Musical Week 2025 was held on February 17–21 at the DCC campus, celebrating unity and diversity through sports, literature, and music, fostering camaraderie and school spirit.

To ensure a well-rounded and exciting experience, the week featured a variety of sports tournaments, vocal arts, visual arts, and other contests. The Intramurals tested students’ strength and endurance through basketball, volleyball, and track-and-field events, fostering teamwork and discipline. Meanwhile, the Literary-Musical competitions highlighted students’ creativity in Extemporaneous Speaking, Balak, Bible Version, and more. Through these activities, the event developed leadership, resilience, and self-expression, making it an avenue for holistic student growth.

As the week unfolded with thrilling matches and breathtaking performances, the spirit of unity and sportsmanship shone among participants. This celebration served as a reminder that diversity strengthened the community and that competition was not just about winning but about learning and growing together. In the end, it was not just trophies and medals that mattered, but the friendships built, the lessons learned, and the memories that would last a lifetime.


Gabi ng Parangal ends Davao Central College Intramurals 2025

After the long period of preparation, Davao Central College Intramurals 2025 has finally come to an end. The students and faculty members had gathered in the gymnasium to witnessed the "Gabi ng Parangal" last February 21, 2025.

All efforts and hard work of each participant were recognized, from the sports events, the volleyball, chess, basketball, table tennis, scrabble, Chinese garter, block blast, and mobile legends. To the literary events, the Balak, Bible Version, On-the-spot painting, Pencil Drawing, Extemporaneous, Quiz Bowl, Kinema Kum Kinetics, and Accent Aesthetics. The cheers of the students supporting their departmental contenders resonated throughout the gymnasium. The event also highlighted the spirit of teamwork, dedication, and sportsmanship among the participants.

The night ended with the College of Education and Liberal Arts bagging the overall championship. The Hospitality Management Education bagged the overall fourth place, Criminal Justice Education conquered the overall third place, overall, second place was the Information Technology Education, and the overall first placer was the College of Business Administration.

Joshua Palaña, the Senate President of College of Supreme Student Government Council and one of the committee, shared his experience, saying, “Nalingaw jud ko bisag kapoy pero the moment nga makita ang sportsmanship and teamwork sa matag-usa, makuha lang ang goal nga mag-champion. Throughout the events, ang spirit and camaraderie grabe ka power.”


CELA Stands Tall as Intrams 2025 Champions

Crowned as overall champion of Intrams 2025, CELA Department celebrated during Gabi ng Parangal last February 21, 2025 at Davao Central College, followed by CBA in second, ITE third, Criminology fourth, and HME fifth.

The CELA Department emerged as the overall champion of Intrams 2025 because of their exceptional performance across multiple events, showcasing their athleticism, teamwork, and strategic preparation. Their consistent victories in key competitions and strong participation across activities secured their dominance, outscoring rival departments such as the CBA, ITE, Criminology, and HME. Their determination, unity, and effort throughout the games highlighted their commitment to excellence, ultimately earning them the top spot in this year’s highly anticipated intramural event.

Other highlights of the week-long Intrams 2025 included the lively Gabi ng Parangal, where technical issues were humorously resolved by a Budots dance challenge. The audience embraced the spontaneous activity with laughter and cheers, creating a fun and memorable experience. the Intrams 2025 concluded, participants and organizers celebrated the success of this year's events while looking forward to an even more exciting competition next year.


Carl Jacob Ompad Secures Chess Victory for CELA at DCC Intramurals 2025

"WHO" LEAD

Carl Jacob Ompad, the representative of CELA Department, claimed victory in the chess competition after defeating HME during the Intramurals and LitMus event held at Davao Central College from February 17–21, 2025, outplaying opponents from CBA, CJE, and ITE Department.

The chess tournament took place at the DCC campus, where students from different departments competed in intense matches to showcase their strategic thinking and analytical skills. Ompad displayed exceptional gameplay throughout the competition, leading to a final showdown against HME’s top player. With precision and composure, he carefully planned each move, ultimately securing a well-deserved win. His victory not only demonstrated individual excellence but also contributed to CELA’s overall success in the event.

As the competition ended, cheers erupted from CELA supporters, celebrating Ompad’s achievement. The Intrams and LitMus event fostered camaraderie and school spirit, providing a platform for students to display their talents in both sports and academics. More than just a contest, the event highlighted perseverance, intelligence, and the unity of the DCC community.


CJE Triumphs in Volleyball Boys Championship at DCC Intramurals

The Volleyball Boys Championship at Davao Central College Intramurals saw a fierce battle between CELA and CJE, with CJE winning. Cheers erupted as both teams showcased skill, teamwork, and determination, making it one of the event’s highlights.

Throughout the tournament, students from CELA, CJE, ITE, HME, and CBA displayed remarkable sportsmanship across various events. The volleyball championship, in particular, kept spectators on edge as both teams delivered powerful spikes and well-coordinated plays. Despite CELA's resilience and strong defense, CJE secured the win in the final moments, proving their dominance on the court.

As the Intramurals concluded, the spirit of unity and camaraderie prevailed among students, regardless of the results. While CJE celebrated their championship, all participants took pride in their efforts, showing that beyond the competition, the true victory was the bonds and memories created throughout the event.

Davao Central College Intramurals 2025 officially concluded after an exciting week of competition from February 17 to February 21, 2025. The event brought together students from the CELA, HME, CBA, ITE, and CJE departments in a thrilling showcase of sportsmanship, teamwork, and school pride. From the opening game to the final match, the energy and enthusiasm on campus were truly remarkable as participants gave their all in various sporting events.

Students demonstrated their dedication and athletic abilities in various sports, including basketball, volleyball, and scrabble. One of the most unforgettable moments was the intense competition in Volleyball, Basketball, Dance Sport, and Bench Cheering, where the crowd erupted in cheers, showing their unwavering support. The camaraderie among players and supporters made the event not only competitive but also a unifying experience for the school community. 

In the end, the CELA department emerged as the overall champion, securing the most points across different events. However, beyond the trophies and medals, the true success of the Intramurals was the unity, sportsmanship, and friendships it fostered among students, teachers, and staff. As the school looks forward to next year’s event, the memories of this year’s games will continue to inspire and strengthen the bonds within the DCC community.


CELA Day 2025: Showcasing the Best of Davao Central College

"WHEN" LEAD

On January 24, 2025, Davao Central College celebrated CELA Day, bringing together students, faculty, and guests for a meaningful event. It featured academic competitions, workshops, and performances, highlighting excellence and leadership in the College of Education and Liberal Arts.

The event began at the gymnasium with a color parade, followed by the opening program, which set the tone for an exciting day. Students demonstrated their inventiveness in the Mascot Showdown and showed school passion in the Bench Cheering Competition. Athletics dominated the Spikes and Strikes: Exhibition Match and other field events. Meanwhile, the Debate and Dance Off kept the crowd engaged with intellectual and artistic demonstrations.

Simultaneously, the AVR hosted intellectual and artistic contests such as Extemporaneous Speech, Rap Discussion, Teaching Demo, Quiz Mania, Tanghalan ng Kampeon, and the exciting MLBB Tournament, bringing variety to the festivities.

As night fell, the evening entertainment included a grand opening number, a beautiful Major Runway, and a live band performance to keep the crowd amused. The event culminated with an Awarding Ceremony to recognize outstanding participants, followed by a Closing Program that left everyone with lasting recollections of fun and accomplishment.

CELA Day 2025 was more than just a series of competitions; it demonstrated the Davao Central College community's enthusiasm, dedication, and spirit. From academic success to sportsmanship and artistic expression, the event showcased students' different abilities as well as staff members' steadfast support. As the event concluded, one thing was certain: CELA's history of brilliance and leadership shines brighter than ever.
