A Look Back at Davao Central College Intramurals 2025
The competition was over, but the memories last forever. Some participants of the Davao Central College Intramurals 2025 were interviewed yesterday on campus. After days of giving their best, the intramural players have stories to share.
Several students took part in different events, each with their own story to tell. Januel Monteverde Bacatan, a Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education major in Home Economics student from the College of Education and Liberal Arts, joined the contemporary dance competition. Vera Aberilla from Criminology Justice Education also competed in contemporary dance while balancing her time as a volleyball player. Joshua Nyarante represented Hospitality Management Education in the dancesport standard category, while Jhon Carlo Acap, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration student, competed in the Scrabble tournament. Meanwhile, Euclid Jake Carillo from Information Technology Education participated in the vocal trio competition.
The journey to the competition was not easy. The participants spend time practicing and perfecting their routine. They faced many challenges, like coordinating their movements and making sure their performance matched the music. The pressure was high, but their determination kept them going.
“We put so much effort sa among contemporary sa Intramurals and bet kaayu namo ang mga kauban sa dance, contemporary. Unlike dati is like more on attitude kaayu sila but now is makaya kaya lang.” Jerwelle explained.
As they took the stage, the audience watched in anticipation. The performance was a beautiful blend of emotion and artistry. On the day of the competition, the atmosphere was filled with excitement and nervousness.
When asked if he felt nervous, Jerwell admitted, “To be honest, Yes. Because sa other department is naa mi ka same music and then nag libog mi ug unsaon namo pag apply sa amoang music or sap ag execute. It’s because kay na una man gud sila kaysa sa amoa so basin kami ang ma Ilhan na nanundog kaysa sa ilaha.”
Vera also felt the intensity of the competition. She said, “Yes, actually, kulba judt sya Kay All departments man imong kalaban so Dili lang kay isa lang no so first namong kuan ato is abi namo kanang ok lang Kay friendly game lang sya Wala MN gud namo gi kuan as in giseryoso judt, enjoy lang, friendly game lang judt sya para sa amoa.”
Their wonderful performance has indeed set the stage on fire. The cheers coming from each department resonated that night. Every amazing stunt they present, the crowd would applaud as they were awed by the performances they gave.
Jerwelle also talked about their preparation. “Amoang gi preperan jud is about lang sa, to express the rewind movie, which is kay Marian Rivera ug kay DingDong Dantes. And then, mao ra jud to amoang gikuha sa ilaha, and amoang gi try amoang best para mahatagan sila ug best performance, but sad is wala nadaog.”
For Vera, balancing dance and volleyball was tough. “Uhm Wala lang Kay igo lang Raman mi mag kuan kanang usahay mag practice Kay katag Man gud kaayu Akong schedule ato no Kay mag practice pako ug volleyball nya naa pay contempory like matunga judt Akong lawas pero at least enjoy sya.”
Despite the outcome, the participants' dedication and hard work were evident, showcasing the spirit of perseverance and teamwork. Every routine they performed reflected their hours of practice, late-night rehearsals, and unwavering commitment. Their ability to push through exhaustion, manage busy schedules, and still deliver a powerful performance manifested their passion for their craft.
Joshua Nyarante, a participant in the dance sports standard category, also shared his experience with enthusiasm and honesty. He described the event as enjoyable yet somewhat exhausting due to the various activities involved. The effort required for preparation and execution tested his endurance and discipline, making his experience both challenging and rewarding.
When asked if he felt nervous facing his opponent, Joshua said,”Oo, Kasi dalawa lang kaming contestant na sumayaw don and also walang ibang department kundi CELA lang tung kalaban namin.”
Joshua also shared their preparation process. “Nag prepared kami for almost half a month. then sa mga daghan maraming conflict na nangyari samin so sa final is naging dalawang 2 days lang ang among preparation before the competition so medyo nahirapan din kami mag adjust.” Despite the limited time, he and his partner pushed through polishing their steps and making the most of their rehearsals.
For many, this experience will serve as motivation for future competitions, proving that hard work and dedication bring great rewards. The laughter, challenges, and victories will remain in their hearts and will be forever cherished. They will always look back at this event as a time of growth, passion, and true sportsmanship.
